A few days ago, we saw the finale of the Cortina 2021 world ski championships, the most important sporting event of the winter, safely taken to the finish line thanks to an immense choral effort, which honored the organizational ability of Italy.
How beautiful are the Dolomites? How engaging are the emotions created by sports? I leave forever “etched” in this post the joy for Marta Bassino’s World gold and Luca De Aliprandini’s silver, the latter in particular linked to an immense personal joy, as he’s an athlete I’ve always followed, gifted with an incredible technical ability and who I hope to see at the top for a very long time: you will find it in the 5 videos.
The goal now is not to turn off the spotlight on the mountains and on skiing, with a sport at its highest levels assuming the role of important ambassador to a mountain tourism blocked by the pandemic; entire Alpine and Apennine communities are in great economic difficulties, aggravated by a botched and inconsistent political management. Between us artists, the various employees of the entertainment sector, tourism operators, hoteliers, restaurateurs, ski instructors (and I could list dozens of other professional categories) I don’t know who has it worst off …
But let’s get back to world skiing, which this weekend returns to the slopes with the women’s World Cup, in Val di Fassa – once again in Italy – and the men’s with 2 giant slaloms in Bansko, Bulgaria.
Let’s go Azzurri, for an end of season as protagonists, with the hope of hearing my Faster & Beyond playing on your bends (and you can always listen to it again here).
