What I learned so far and the list of the 10 songs that will inspire me in 2019
Today I want to share with you some of the scattered thoughts that keep musicians awake at night, but that also give them the impetus to get up every morning (albeit sometimes late).
From the moment I immersed myself in the production of dance songs, I have obviously tried to listen to my own creativity, but had to necessarily filter it with electronic sounds, styles and choices related to the time and sounds in which we live, and the trend and fashion of the moment, collaborating open-mindedly with talented producers whose creative processes are very different from mine. To begin with, those who plays an instrument will often start from a melody, while most electronic producers will start from a sound, a rhythmic groove, a bass tour; they are very different processes that magically coincide (or collide).
In music, as in other arts and creative fields, we have been living for quite a while now in a period of full “post modernism”, where nothing new is created, but where everything that we have inherited as a gift form the past is isolated, repurposed, reinterpreted, remixed and blended in a continuous whirling process. He who dictates fashions and trends is a master at this, while others follow and pursue the trend.
Dance music is perhaps the most responsive to the swirling succession of trends; it can sometimes reach us in a rather chaotic way, with a process that can appear unromantic and/or rather meaningless, more like a “music workshop” of sorts, but very often it’s not: think of how many electronic songs really stir up in us mixed emotions, then think of a violin that seduces the synthesizers …
However I’m announcing, for the first time from my blog, that in order to remain with my feet in this 2019 and my head projected towards the future, I will publish, in a few days, my version of HAPPIER by Marshmello and Bastille, a worldwide success launched in 2018, which is still a hit now 2019, of which we created an electronic remix cover, where the violin plays the melody of the song and the retro wave flavor of the 80s, with arrangement done by the young Fender Funk producers (Leonardo and Davide…Thank you both). Sound choices akin to Black Hole Tale, the most listened to single of “The Space Violin Project” so far on Spotify, Youtube and all the platforms where one can find my tracks.
Let’s move on to the list: 10 dance songs from the past and of today that I bring into the studio with me in order to “bathe myself” in the aquarium of creativity for the next songs with which I hope to make as many people listen and dance to as much as possible. From some I take the melody and from others the sounds.
